A limited company is checked on the Companies House register and keeps its registered name. A sole trader has no register to check, so everything stays in their own name.

Your identity documents go through the Clever check and, for a limited company, the register says you are who you say you are to it.

Each one gets their own login and sets their own PIN. Nobody shares yours.

Opens the PLNA screens and your compliance list. This is where an owner driver's own documents go.

Your company is verified once and every driver you add is covered by it.

What kind of account is this?
Owner driver
Drive and take paid work yourself. You are both the business and the driver, so both are checked: your own business first, then your licence, vehicle and insurance.
Courier company or fleet
Run vans and drivers. Your company is verified once, then every driver you add is covered by it and only has to pass their own licence, vehicle and insurance.
I drive for a fleet
Nothing to apply for here. Ask whoever runs your fleet to add you from their Fleet section. You keep this account and this sign-in, and their verified company covers the business side for you.
Your plan
Everybody starts on Free. This is the only place a plan is chosen, and it is also where a plan is downgraded or cancelled.
